How did it get to be Friday so fast?  Let’s get to it…

People with Diabetes are targets for scam ‘cures.’ “Food and Drug Administration officials are cracking down on companies that sell illegal and fraudulent products that claim to treat, ease or even cure diabetes, which affects 1 in 9 Americans older than 20.” You can find these kinds of folks all over the internet.  I am not saying they are all bad, but always look to your medical team for the best guidance.  This is a must read.

People with Diabetes are 50% more likely to suffer from a physical disability. “Older adults with diabetes are at least 50% more likely to have a physical disability than those without diabetes, according to the results of a new systematic review and meta-analysis published in The Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology.”  Another reason to declare your War On Diabetes and gain control.  Control is not an option if you want a full and active life.  Read the study.

A gene to control insulin effectiveness? “The resistance to insulin seen in type 2 diabetics is caused partly by the lack of a protein that has not previously been associated with diabetes. This breakthrough could potentially help to prevent diabetes.” If this study proves to be accurate, this is huge…beyond huge to prevent Diabetes in coming generations.  Read about the possible future today.

Breakfast is still an important meal – just like Mom told you. “You’ve probably heard that a healthy breakfast is important. But that doesn’t necessarily mean you’ve taken the steps to make it part of your regular routine.”  Read what these nutritionists recommend and eat themselves.

Which exercise is best for Type 2 Diabetics? “The health benefits of aerobic and resistance training in type 2 diabetic patients (HART-D) study was a randomized controlled trial comparing the improvement of quality of life (QOL) in an aerobic training group, a resistance training group, or a combination of both training groups versus a non-exercise control group for 9 months.” The results are in…find out.

Can Type 2 Diabetes be reversed? “Type 2 diabetes (which used to be called adult-onset or non-insulin-dependent diabetes) can be a life-long, chronic disease in which the body either does not produce enough insulin or the cells don’t respond to the insulin correctly.” Once a Diabetic; always a Diabetic…but can you control it?  Can you get it into remission?  Hint: The answer is yes.
